The Undergraduate Department of Microbiology was started in the academic year 2013-2014 under the affiliation of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu with a sanctioned strength of  30 students. It caters the educational requirements of economically weak rural women students not only in Tiruppur and also state-wide. The department was started with 9 students in the first batch and from the second batch, full strength is being admitted. The faculty strength of the department is 6. This is the only Government College (women) offering B.Sc, Microbiology course under the jurisdiction of Bharathiar University.

ACADEMICS

B.Sc., Microbiology is one of the well known and emerging life science course. It is receiving much attention today especially after Covid – 19 pandemic. The Microbiology Department gives wide range of opportunities to establish students’ thoughts and have a firm foundation in the academics. The main objective of the department is to impart comprehensive knowledge in Microbiology and its applications, to develop skills in microbiological techniques, to encourage critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
