MR Scheme

Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme ( Pudumai Penn Scheme ) was introduced by The Government of Tamil Nadu on 05.09.2022, to enhance the enrolment ratio of girls from Government schools to Higher Education Institutions.  It aims to improve the general well-being of female students and encourage them to continue their studies. It provides financial assistance to economically weaker families who cannot send their daughters to schools and colleges due to financial constraints. Through this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs. 1000/month will be provided to the girls till their completion of UG degree/Diploma/ITI/any other recognized course. The incentive amount under this scheme will be disbursed directly into the student’s Bank Account. Debit cards were provided to the students under this scheme during its initial phase. Currently the application process is through the Pudhumai Penn and UMIS portals and the money is transferred to the student’s account through DBT. As per the latest reports the enrolment percentage of girl students in higher education has increased by 34% due to the Pudhumai Penn scheme*.

Our college has the highest number of Girl Students in Tiruppur District. The college has given assistance from the implementation year to have all the eligible students enrolled under the scheme. In order to have the assistance reach the maximum beneficiaries through Direct Benefit process, the students were given proper guidance to open the Bank Accounts in the Nationalised Banks and link the Adhar to the Bank Accounts. Last year onwards the Post office Saving Bank Account Opening camps were organised in order to help the students open Adhar linked DBT Accounts.
