The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at LRG Government Arts College for Women, Tirupur, is fully active under the leadership of Principal (FAC) Dr. M. Tamil Malar. The ELC consistently motivates students and the public, especially those who have turned 18, to participate in voter registration. Led by Nodal Officer Dr. T. Nagananthi (Department of B.Com (CA)) and Student Ambassador P.N. Santhanika (Student of B.Com (CA) ), the club collaborates effectively with the Electoral Literacy Forum at district, state, and national levels. The ELC conducts various awareness programs such as wall paper writing, wall magazines, and slogan writing on campus to promote 100% voter participation. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are encouraged to spread voter awareness through online meetings and registration drives, focusing on themes like "My Vote is My Future" and "The Power of a Vote." A seminar emphasizing 100% voter awareness was organized by the Tirupur Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner on the topic "Being Beside and Beyond as a daughter, Student, and Citizen." Throughout the year, students engage in awareness activities like quizzes, essay writing, poster making, rangoli, and the "One Finger Revolution" oath-taking. The college achieved 100% voter ID registration for all students, with regular group activities promoting full voter participation. For this achievement, Nodal Officer Dr. T. Nagananthi and Student Ambassador P.N. Santhanika were recognized as the best at the Tirupur level and received certificates from the Chief Election Commissioner at a ceremony in Chennai on National Voters Awareness Day, January 25th. The ELC also ensures that students who turn 18, registers for voter IDs through a mobile app for a hassle-free process. Exclusive camps are held on campus to facilitate voter ID registration, with special camps conducted by the Tirupur Corporation Offices election section in collaboration with the ELC on December 29, 2023, and March 25, 2024. Additionally, the club organized activities such as a model polling station, the "One Finger Revolution," seminars, signature drives, and selfie points to further engage voters.
