The LRG Central Library, established in 1971 along with the college, has ever been an Epicentre of learning, enriching generations of women with subject knowledge and general information. Located at the heart of the institution, the library ensures easy access for students from all departments, providing equal opportunities to all stakeholders. Over the years, it has expanded exponentially in terms of the Patrons,Resources and Services, mirroring the growth of the college and its Academic offerings.

THE LIBRARIAN

The Librarian, being a fully qualified and a regular faculty recruited through TNPSC and Appointed by DCE, serves as a key figure in the Academic environment. Entrusted with the responsibility for the Procurement of Resources,cataloguing and maintaining of the Collection of books, Journals and Digital Resources to ensure easy access of information by every stakeholder.

The librarian assists users in Research and Inquiry, providing guidance on information retrieval,Evaluation and Publication. Promotion ofLiteracy,Lifelong learning through various programs and workshops and ensuring easyaccess ofdigital resources  through technology Integration.The Library is sanctioned with a Library Assistant to provide Full-Fledge Services.

Key Features:

• Operating Hours: The library is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, ensuring optimal access for students and faculty.
• Lending Service: The students are encouraged to borrow books at any time during working hours.

• Digital Services: The Digital Library functions as a  section and provides internet access to the students and Faculties throughout the working Hours.
• Partially Automated: The Central Library is partially automated with KOHA software providing OPAC, Gate Entry and stock maintenance
• INFLIBNET NLIST Subscription: The subscription is regularly renewed, with login credentials provided to PG students and faculty for access to a vast collection of e-resources.
• Reference Books: The library houses an extensive collection of reference materials, including multiple sets of Encyclopaedias, Yearbooks, Dictionaries, and Competitive Exam Books (TNPSC, Civil Services, CAT, JAM, CLAT, GATE, UGC-NET/SET).

Library Committee :

The Library Committee is responsible for the over-all administration of the Library and framing, reviewing, and updating the librarys rules, regulations, and services. It comprises the following members:

• Principal – Head of the Committee
• Librarian – Member-Secretary
• Senior-most Science Faculty – Member
• Senior-most Arts/Commerce Faculty – Member
• Student Union Chairman – Member

Automation :

The Central Library services have been automated with Microspark Commercial Software. Recently, the library transitioned to a more advanced, open-source, cloud-based Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) using KOHA (Version 22.05.07.000, Perl Version 5.030000). Three computers serve for Automation,One as Library Server and for administrative purpose, while one is dedicated to the Automated Gate Entry System and one for OPAC.

This system enhances library services with features like:

Digital Library :

The Digital Library offers internet access and reprography services, with seven computer systems, two printers, and a scanner-cum-copier connected through LAN.Digital Library is available for use to all UG,PG Students and Faculties to access Web Resources. High Speed Broadband Internet Connection through BSNL offers unwavering study and uninterrupted web services
