The college being located amidst textile hub, with an objective to explore the oppurtunities in textile industries and to enhance employability of women students, the department of chemistry was established in the year 1980 –1981 with UG programme and the PG programme was started in the year 2013 – 2014. The state reservation policy is strictly complied with the UG and PG admission of students.

The Department of Chemistry affiliated to Bharathiar University Coimbatore and offers UG course in English medium and Tamil medium. The students are instructed in regional language which enables them to understand concepts better.  M.Phil and Ph.D research was approved during 2017- 2018. The department has its major strength adopting innovative teaching methods to reach out every student in order to groom them throughout their graduation. To accomplish the vision of reaching great heights in the field of chemistry and contribute to the society we have well qualified, visionary, committed staff who collaborate to pool in their ideas along with the resources available. Through various activities like association meetings, exhibitions, skill based course, seminars, guest Lectures and industrial visits, the department promotes the holistic growth of students.

ACADEMICS

       The department which has its course content starting from the basics principles of chemistry to the application of concepts like electro chemical principles in the prevention of corrosion, polymer chemistry, conservation of nature through topics on environmental pollution and its prevention, aspects of textile processing and dyeing and emerging areas like the nanofabrication of materials and their applications.
