TANSCHE & RUSA CELL
The college has formed a separate cell to look after the work relating to TANSCHE (Tamilnadu
State Council for Higher Education) as well as RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan).
The RUSA is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic
funding to eligible state higher educational institutions. The funding shall be sponsored by State
as well as Central in the ratio of 40:60. The funding would flow from the central ministry
through the State Governments/Union Territories to the State Higher Education Councils. RUSA
would create new universities through up-gradation of existing autonomous colleges and
conversion of colleges in a cluster. It would create new model degree colleges, new professional
colleges and provide infrastructural support to universities and colleges, faculty recruitment
support, faculty improvements programs and leadership development of educational
administrators are also an important part of the scheme. RUSA also supports reforming,
restructuring and building capacity of institutions in participating state. It is implemented and
monitored through an institutional structure comprising the National Mission Authority, Project
Approval Board and the National Project Directorate at the centre and the State Higher
Education Council and State Project Directorate at the state level.The RUSA scheme has been
implemented through State Higher Education Council, by establishing State Project Directorate
Office at Chennai.
During RUSA Phase I, this Institution has been sanctioned with an amount of Rs 2 Crores in
May 2017 under Component No:7, for Infrastructure grant to colleges. Out of this sanctioned
limit, an amount of Rs 1 crore has been received as 1 st installment in May 2017. Based on the
decision taken in Project Monitoring Unit meeting, the amount received under 1 st installment has
been fully utilized towards component NO:7. Under sub-component I:New Construction, an
amount of Rs.70,00,000 has been utilized towards the construction of new class room building
through PWD.Four class rooms have been built and put into usage for the benefit of students.
The rest of the amount of Rs.30,00,000 has been allocated to sub-component: II-New
Equipment. Under which the new equipments have been procured for Botany, Physics (CA),
Electronics, Food and Nutrition and Micro-biology laboratories at a cost of Rs.3,00,000 each.
Further under this component 23 computers, 2 UPS , 1 Copier machine, 2 LCDs, Steel Cub-
board and 3 CCTV Cameras have been procured.
