PG and Research Department of English has its rich history of excellence, dating back to the introduction of  B.A. English Literature  in 1977. The post-graduate programme was established in 2003, followed by M.Phil. andPh.D programmes which were launched in 2014. The faculty members of the Department are dedicated to fostering academic growth, improving communication skills, and encouraging participation in co-curricular and  extra-curricular activities among the students. The students have consistently brought accolades to the Department, showcasing their exceptional abilities. The Department has been doing exceptionally well since its inception, producing University Rank holders in both UG and PG levels. The Department has a Team of experienced research supervisors who have mentored 40 Ph.D and 25 M.Phil scholars. The English language lab provides students with a conducive atmosphere  to develop their communication skills, equipping them with the necessary  tools they require to fare well  in the job market . One of our students has achieved remarkable success by clearing the UPSC preliminary examination, while many others have secured positions as English teachers in reputed schools and lecturers in private colleges across the State. Both the faculty members and the  students actively participate in seminars, conferences, and paper presentations, enriching their knowledge and skills further. To add weightage to the existing Part II English syllabus , the Government of Tamilnadu has introduced "NaanMuthalvan"which teaches students, English for employability skills and Overview of English Communication. Our faculty handle the classes effectively to uplift the student community with good communication skills and writing skills to face interviews and competitive examinations with confidence .
