The PG and Research Department of Commerce is the largest Department of LRG Government Arts College for Women, Tirupur- 641 602 with a strength of around 500 students. It has been marking the footprints from the period of inception of our college. It offers two courses B.Com at Under Graduate level and M.Com at Post Graduate level. The department is offering the B.Com course under Shift I from 2004 and Shift II from 2007 onwards. The department of Commerce started offering Master of Commerce (M.Com) from the academic year 2012-2013 onwards. The department is a recognized research department affiliated to the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore -641 046, from the year 2015-16 offering M. Phil and Ph. D programs both full time and part time mode. The PG and Research Department of Commerce has produced 49 Ph.D. and 27 M.Phil. from the year of inception. Presently there are 11 teaching staff members working in the Department of Commerce, two teaching staff members in the capacity of Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and remaining 7 teaching staff members are Government appointed Guest Lecturers. 10 of the teaching staff of Department of Commerce are with doctorate degree and 4 of them are recognized research supervisors by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Two Assistant Professors of Department of Commerce are SET qualified, and 4 of our Guest Lecturers have qualified in NET / SET. The faculty members of commerce have attended orientation and refresher programs from time to time to up skill their domain knowledge. Our faculty contributes to the academic arena through being member Board of Studies of various colleges, Doctorial committee, Academic council, course affiliation committee etc. The faculty members of the Department of Commerce are presenting papers in conference and seminars of various colleges and also publishing articles in National and International Journals. The faculty are dedicated to the academic and overall development of the students. The well qualified and competent faculties of the department are dedicated to the academic and overall development of the College by actively taking in charge of NAAC, UGC, NSS, SWATCH BHARAT, RUSA, PLACEMENT CELL, NAAN MUDHALVAN etc. The Department aims at maintaining academic excellence and equipping students with the skills necessary to face the challenges of the business world. The Department encourages and motivates the students to pursue their higher education, to take up the competitive exams and professional courses. The Department also encourages students to participate in internal house competitions, inter-collegiate technical and cultural events to explore their talents and skills. The department creates a stimulating environment for academic growth of its students and to gain productive employment while leaving option for higher education open.
